Meet and discuss needs, design aesthetic and style direction, and identify objectives regarding the specific function of each space (i.e. who will be using the space along with furniture and equipment requirements).
Working with the architect and builder, development of space planning and furniture layouts continues. During this time the overall feel of the home is also being designed– starting with material finish palettes per space, which is then presented for review and approval.
Once design direction and materials schemes have been approved, development of interior elevation drawings and other related items in greater detail begin. Colors and finishes are refined, fixtures and equipment are selected, and drawings prepared. The design is then presented with materials for review and approval. One or two meetings will be held to make any changes and finalize design direction, and a final meeting for review and approval on design and drawings.
With approval of the designs, the specific details of the design are documented, such as: elevation drawings, millwork specifications, finish selections (such as tile and paint), lighting plans and fixture selections, plumbing locations and fixture selections, and electrical layouts. These specifications and drawings are then compiled and delivered to you and the contractor for bidding. Throughout construction we work closely with the build team to ensure correctness and quality of the project.
About 6 months prior to completion, if desired, interior furnishings are designed and presented per space. This would include all furniture, fabrics, area rugs, any existing furniture, window treatments, decorative lighting, art and accessories. For any selections made, orders are placed and delivery coordinated to a warehouse, where it is inspected and stored for installation.
The MID team begins installation of furnishings, area rugs, artwork, and window treatments. Accessories ordered are placed and styled, beds made and steamed, and furniture carefully placed. Everything is completed to a turnkey level.
